Durpin

A disposable camera for your friends.

Shoot now. See it later. Only your friends ever see it.

Invite only. In testing with a small group of friends.

How it works

  1. 01

    Shoot

27 shots a day, like a disposable. No preview, no retakes, no zoom.

  2. 02

    Wait

Each shot develops 20 minutes to 3 hours later. Nobody can see it sooner, not even you.

  3. 03

    Turn them over

Prints come back face down. Share one with friends, keep it private, or toss it.

  4. 04

    Remember

Your journal fills itself. A recap each month, and a shot from a year ago today.

What it won't do

Why it's built this way

Apps like this have come and gone. The ones people kept had a wait before the reveal. The ones that stumbled pushed people to invite their contacts, or ran out of money storing everyone's photos. Durpin keeps the first and avoids the rest.

The wait is the point.
The server holds every shot until it develops, so nobody can peek, not even with a modified app.
Invites are a favor, not a toll.
You never have to invite anyone to use it. You get five open invites, and they come back when friends join.
One card per friend.
Someone who shoots all 27 doesn't bury someone who shot two. Each friend's day is one card.
Built to stay cheap.
It runs on one small server at home. Every photo has a size budget, and the film look is made on your phone.
